2nd Half Surge Lifts Chargers Above Broncos

The San Diego Chargers (8-2) scored two touchdowns in the 4th quarter of last night’s Sunday Night NFL game against their divisional rivals the Denver Broncos (7-3). The Chargers were 3 point underdogs heading into Denver last night, but managed to dominate the second half and win the game 35-27.

Philip Rivers continued to show why he is one of the up and coming stars in the NFL. Rivers was 19-26 for 222 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Despite losing the turnover battle (including a 31 yard interception returned for a touchdown), Rivers managed the game well and was only sacked 1 time.

Denver’s defense was highly touted, but in the end they were no match for the Chargers high powered offense. Combined with Tomlinson’s amazing rushing performance (20 attempts and 105 yards and 3 touchdowns), Rivers was able to spread the ball around to 8 different receivers, with Antonio Gates leading the way with 5 receptions.

Philip Rivers and the Chargers are at home next week vs. another divisional opponent, the Oakland Raiders.
