Rivers Touchdownless vs the Raiders

This is really no surprise since Oakland (believe it or not) has a top 5 pass defense in the NFL. Despite not throwing for a touchdown for only the second time all season, the San Diego Chargers were able to stage a 4th quarter comeback vs the Oakland Raiders. Rivers ended the game 14-31 for 133 yards and 1 interception. How ironic that after I just get done boasting about his high QB Rating and Completion percentage, he goes out and has the worst performance of the year ending the game with a 45.2 passer rating.

But stats aren’t everything right? Dan Marino and Peyton Manning aren’t called “statboy” for nothing. Rivers (not taking anything away from LT2) is one of the major reasons San Diego is rolling right now. According to Fox Sports latest Power Poll, the Chargers are ranked number 1… ahead of Indianapolis, Baltimore and Chicago. That’s high praise for any team.

Could this be the year for the Chargers? It’s hard to see why not. With the way Tomlinson is playing and the way Rivers is connecting with his receivers and spreading the ball, I think it’s safe to say this is the team to beat.
