Leighanne,
I have followed Phillip’s career all through College and Professional. I strongly admire, respect, and I’m very impressed with his athletic skills. I always thought he could be one of the great ones and I would not be surprised if he won the Superbowl this year.

However, the Professional Football League is like any other organization, it’s very political. It is especially very critical when it comes to picking who goes into the hall of fame. Just consider the long term impact of him being a great player but most of the league never liked him. Whether he cusses or not, or whether he thinks its fun and part of the game, he is ruining his reputation. He has been lately getting more press about his trash talking than his athletic skills. Sadly, the stories should be about his potential to be one of the great quarterbacks of all time and heroic performances he displayed in last years playoffs.

I know I’m not connected with football like your family is. However, I’m pretty smart and have been watching this league since I was ten years old. I know a lot about the political nature of the league. For example, I always read about the theories on why a great player did not get selected to the hall of fame and many times it’s because of stuff like this.

His role models should be Joe Montana, John Elway, Brett Favre, Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Roger Staubach. I never ever seen them do anything out of the ordinary and only read positive articles about there skills as a player and their character. Simple put, they went out and just played the game with a high degree of professionalism. Because of their God given skills and how they played the game they are now ranked among the best quarterbacks that have ever played the game.

Lastly, I did a google search on “Phillip Rivers Trash Talking” and there were a lot of articles besides the Denver Broncos incident.

If you agree with what I’m saying, sent this email to your father, and have him forward it to Phillip’s father.
