Broncos vs Chargers Preview 12/10
Division rival Denver Broncos (7-5) are traveling to San Diego on Sunday to face the NFL’s best Chargers (10-2). The Chargers got the best of the Broncos a few weeks ago when they played in Denver, and there’s no doubt the Broncos will be looking to steal one back this week. A loss to the Broncos will hurt their playoff chances. The Chargers, although in first place in their division, need to keep winning to maintain homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
In their last meeting, Rivers threw for 222 yards, 2 touchdown and 2 interceptions. An average game at best. When looking through the matchup for this week, all we need is for Rivers to have another average game, and let Tomlinson do the rest. Champ Baily is the best cover corner in the NFL, so he could cause some trouble for Rivers throwing the ball deep. I would look for a lot of checkdowns to Gates and Tomlinson.
The Broncos will try to stuff the box and force Rivers to throw the ball. They’ll come in hard and fast. Although they only had 1 sack on him in their last meeting, I feel like Rivers might get hit with 3 this week.
In my opinion, the Chargers are the best team in the NFL and they are facing a struggling Broncos team who is underperforming yet again. I predict the Chargers to win the game 28-17. Rivers will have a solid day 16-22, throwing for 215 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
