Chargers Bolt Past the Broncos
Philip Rivers didn’t disappoint me this past Sunday with a near perfect performance. While all the talk around the NFL was about Tomlinson scoring his record breaking 29th touchdown of the year, Rivers quietly put up a great game. He finished the game completing 15 of 23 pass attempts for 279 yards and two touchdowns. A little bit better than I predicted.
Antonio Gates was on the receiving end of both of Rivers touchdowns. Gates also ended the game the leading receiver with 7 receptions for 104 yards. Rivers was able to throw the ball to six different players during the course of the game.
On Tomlinson’s Touchdown record:
“I had the chills there almost before the play, waiting around,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “It was that special looking at the stadium. There wasn’t one person sitting down. It was just that magical feeling out there in the huddle. The linemen were excited. I tried to get L.T. to show some emotion but you know him, he wouldn’t.”
The Chargers are now 11-2 on the season and have clinched their Division. Now they have to work a little bit harder to maintain home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Something feels magical about this Chargers team. They feel like a team of destiny don’t they? I wouldn’t be surprised if everything just keeps going their way all the way to the Superbowl.
