Chargers vs. Bills Preview
There’s no doubt the Chargers are the hottest team in the NFL right now. They are dominating opponents left and right, including a big victory in Denver and a solid win vs Oakland. They’re 3-1 in the division and have won 5 games in a row.
The Chargers are traveling to snowy Buffalo tomorrow to face a tough and determined Bills team, just coming off an upset win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bills are 5-6 overall and have won 2 in a row.
The Chargers have traveled to Buffalo as recently Dec. 15, 2002, where they lost. Maybe it’s something about traveling from sunny San Diego to snowy Buffalo that causes problems.
The Bills come into this game with the 21st ranked total defense and 16th ranked passing defense. That mean’s they’re a little below average so Philip Rivers shouldn’t have a problem throwing the ball. Rivers will look to bounce back after last week’s poor performance. He has thrown 3 interceptions in the last two games. If the Chargers want to stay on top of the Bills they will need a turnover free game from Rivers.
Rivers will need to manage the game, especially if it is snowing. I would look for a steady dose of Tomlinson, with the occassional deep ball and check downs to Antonio Gates. I would look for Rivers to end the game with stats like 16-22 for 210 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. That’s the type of game Rivers needs to have to get back on track.
