Sunday Night Football Showdown

Division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and headed to San Diego on Sunday night to face our beloved Chargers. The Chiefs have their playoff hopes on the line, while the Chargers are duking it out for home field advantage. Baltimore and Indianapolis are their biggest competition. With the way Indy has been struggling, I really think it’s coming down to Baltimore and San Diego. A win this week will be huge in getting them that much closer.

Philip Rivers isn’t worried about the playoffs though. “I know it can get old — us saying this — but Kansas City is the only team that we can worry about,” Chargers quarterback  Philip Rivers told the team’s official Web site. “It’s the next game. We need to focus on winning each game to stay where we are. That way the playoffs do come right through here down the road.”

You’re right Philip. Let’s take a look at this week’s matchup. You are going up against a solid pass defense, but nothing spectacular. They do have Ty Law, who is always a threat to intercept the ball. I like San Diego to win this game, but I don’t think they’ll do it in their normal fashion. I’m predicted a low scoring game. I don’t know why, just a gut feeling I guess. I’m thinking something along the lines of 14-10.

Rivers won’t have the best day passing the ball. I think he hooks up with Gates for one score, and Tomlinson runs in the other. I look for Rivers to end the game 14-24 for 160 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. I’d like to go out and say Rivers will go 250 2-0 every game, but I can’t do it. He’s a stud QB, but every QB is due for a poor game sometime.
