Chargers Game Day
At 4:30 PM EST, the New England Patriots and San Diego Chargers will kick off in the final NFL Division Playoff game this season. The winner will move on to the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts, who defeated Baltimore Yesterday.
The Patriots come in here with a 13-4 record. Favorite target of Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates, had this to say about them.
“You definitely respect them for the things they’ve done in the past and the things they’ve done throughout the season,” Chargers All-Pro tight end Antonio Gates said. “You just want to go out and play with respect. But at the same time, you fear no one. That’s our mindset.”
Rivers is making his first career post season start. In the past two years, teams that had a quarterback making his first playoff start have gone 0-6. That is a jinx I think Rivers can break.
“I’m not sure what to expect from him,” Tomlinson said. “He is excited about being in the playoffs. Part of being a quarterback, you keep that even keel of not getting too excited. But in the weight room just a while ago he was talking about how after the New England game, he was already ready to go. So I’m thinking to myself, ‘We’ve got a long way to go. We’ve got six days, Philip.’
“It’s good, because he’s excited to be in his first playoff game. For us who’ve played in the playoff game, we’re reminded that a fast horse runs fast, but it don’t run long,” Tomlinson said.
Being excited is a characteristic we want our quarterback to have. Rivers is going to be pumped and determined to bring home a victory.
