Rivers First Postseason Start

Philips Rivers will have a tough challenge on Sunday afternoon when he starts in his first postseason game against the New England Patriots. What a team to play against huh? Don’t fret too much, they still have MVP Ladanian Tomlinson on their team to take most of the load off River’s shoulders.

“It’s good because he is excited to be (playing) in his first playoff game,” Tomlinson said. “But I think for us who played in the playoff game (two years ago when Rivers was the No. 3 quarterback), we’ve got to remind him that a fast horse runs fast but it don’t run long.”

I’m not quite sure what that means, but I’m sure its a bode of confidence for Rivers. Philip’s inexperience is one of the only downfalls the Chargers have this offseason. We saw what inexperience can do to a quarterback in the Cowboys game (Romo choke). Rivers needs to stay cool, calm, and collected. Let the team handle the game. He doesn’t need to be a leader just yet, Tomlinson can handle that role, although Ladanian thinks otherwise…
“I’m expecting Philip to come out and have one of the best games of his career,” Tomlinson said. “Obviously, that’s the focus point. It’s on Philip Rivers and can he get the job done. Everybody in the locker room believes, ‘Hey, this is our guy. He can lead us to a world championship.’”
