Norv Turner was recently named head coach of the San Diego Chargers. This is the first time in Philip Rivers’ NFL career that he will have a new head coach. How will Turner’s presence on the Chargers effect Rivers as a growing quarterback?

There’s no doubt that Turner is one of the best offensive play callers in the league. What he does to running backs on the west coast is amazing. He turned Frank Gore into a man possessed. But when it comes to head coaching, his resume is less than par. In fact, he has a losing record as a head coach. Not the best confidence booster for a young guy like Rivers.

Turner does have success with quarterbacks in the past.. Troy Aikman and Alex Smith to name a few. Rumor has it that the Chargers playbook won’t change, so there’s no reason why Rivers can’t flourish under Turner.

Despite Turners history of losing as a head coach, this Chargers team is loaded with talent. There’s really no way they can not make the playoffs. The AFC will be tougher than last year, but I still think the Chargers are the top of the class.
