San Diego Chargers Schedule

Should the Chargers lock up Rivers now?

Philip Rivers is currently under contract through 2009. Sure that sounds like a long time, but if the Chargers believe Rivers can be their franchise QB for the next 7-8 years, shouldn’t they lock him up in an extension now while the price is cheaper?

If Rivers had a Pro Bowl season or wins a couple playoff games, that price tag is only going to go up. Having a premier QB in the NFL is priceless, and I think the Chargers have that in Rivers. He went 14-2 in his first year as a starter.

They need to get him locked through at least 2011 (that’s how long Tomlinson is under contract). I say give him a 3 year extension and roll with it. Who else are you going to get? Culpepper?

Philip Rivers is the worst player ever. The Chargers is better off with a new QB. He brings down the rest of the team. The rest of the team is always carrying the team, but yet he gets the credit. He can not complete a pass to his own team the only time he can complete a pass is when it is to the other team. I think the Chargers would be much better off without him and I am so sick of hearing about how wonderful he is, I personaly think he SUCKS and he is the reason that the Chargers has not won a Super Bowl. Get rid of him and they will win a Super Bowl.
