Rivers Tosses 300 in a Loss

I’m beginning to run out of words to describe Rivers performances as of late. Sure he threw for 300 yards yesterday against the Jaguars, but the Chargers still lost. The Jaguars were also without their best cornerback Rashean Mathis for the second half, and the Jags played to stop the run, virtually begging Rivers to throw it.

“We threw it and caught it a lot better than we have the past couple weeks,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “But we didn’t come through, and when you don’t win, obviously that’s the bottom line.” Rivers did connect to Chambers on a couple of big passes and he finally found Gates for a touchdown.

He completed 22 of 40 passes for 309 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The Chargers had a potential game tying drive at the end of the 4th quarter, but veteran Sammy knight picked Rivers off to seal the deal. The Chargers dropped to 5-5 on the season, but still are in first place in the West (assuming the Broncos lose tonight).
