Rivers and the Chargers Heading to Indy
Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers are off to Indianapolis to face the #2 seed Colts. Earlier in the year you will remember that the Chargers beat the Colts, I believe Manning was picked off 5 or 6 times that game. Rivers played pretty bad that game, throwing 2 interceptions and losing a fumble so he’ll be looking for redemption on Sunday.
Despite his slow start, over the last 4 games rivers has posted a QB rating of over 100 in 3 games, and a QB rating of 92 in the other… so he’s been pretty money lately. The Colts have a stingy defense, especially with a healthy Bob Sanders back there. I would look for a healthy dose of Tomlinson. Should Gates have to sit those one out then the Chargers will rely on the running game even more. Gates plays a big role in opening things up downfield, so it will be interesting to see how the Chargers respond.
Rivers also needs to keep an eye on his favorite target Chris Chambers. Chambers can catch the deep ball and the Chargers can’t be scared to throw it. I don’t think Rivers needs to be outstanding for them to win the game. Philip needs to be consistent and error free more then anything. Something like 200 yards 1 touchdown and no interceptions.
Once again the game is on a 1:00 EST on Sunday on CBS.
