Rivers Looks Sharp

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported yesterday on how Philip Rivers is feeling after his first couple of days at training camp.

Whether it is new strength in his legs or the results of “a very good offseason in the weight room,” the ball is flying out of Philip Rivers’ hand.

“I feel crisper,” said Rivers, who is absolutely zinging balls short and long. “I don’t know if it’s a zip, but it’s coming out crisp.”

Rivers does look thicker in his upper body. He began working out earlier in the offseason because he was around the complex rehabbing his surgically repaired ACL. But also strengthening the muscles in his legs has given him a new bounce.

“Some of it may be the lower body,” he said yesterday. “A lot of people say you come back stronger.”

This is all good news coming out of camp. Rivers is the key to the success of the Chargers this season. LT is their best player, but without Rivers… they’ll be going nowhere.
