Rivers Looks Strong in Preseason Opener
Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers were home to open the preseason against Dallas last Saturday. As expected, Rivers’ knee held up just fine and he looked very sharp. Philip completed 5 of 6 passes for 54 yards. He did not throw a touchdown, but he did lead the Charger on two touchdown drives.
The coaches threw him out there for over a quarter, which is pretty rare for a starter in the first preseason game. He got hit two times, but it didn’t seem to bother him. “The knee felt fine,” Rivers said. “Even the one sack, there was nothing to it. I felt just fine out there.”
This is very encouraging news.
