Rivers’ interview on ESPN Radio

Philip Rivers is a big Favre fan since his childhood. To the ESPN Radio Rivers says that he understands how hard it may be for Favre to leave the game just because they are both fierce competitors.

In the interview on ESPN when Rivers was asked if he thinks he will have a hard time letting go like Favre then he said that he thinks he will. He said, “It’s hard to put the game down. All you can do is try.”

Rivers also admitted that without sitting behind Brees for 2 seasons he would not have succeeded as a starter as early as he has done. He also admitted that the transition from college to the NFL would not have been as smooth. He said, “Coming out of college I thought I was ready to play, but after those two seasons I was way better off than if I came in as a rookie.”

Talking about the difference between college and the NFL he said, “I remember in OTAs during my rookie season I didn’t throw a couple passes because I thought the guy was covered, and Coach Cameron would stop everything and come over and say ‘That guy’s wide open.’ He looked covered to me….The windows you have to fit balls in are a lot more precise at this level.”
