Still no Super Bowl ring for Rivers
Eli Manning became the highest paid player of NFL on Wednesday with only one Super Bowl ring. Ben Roethlisberger with two Super Bowl victories in 4 seasons and got his big payday last year.
Philip Rivers is till now waiting for the two. He is the only one of the Big 3 QBs from the draft class of the year 2004 who is not having a single Super Bowl ring.
He said to the media recently, “I’ll always be linked with those guys and you like to follow their careers and what they’re doing, but it’s not something I spend a lot of time worrying about.”
It is known that the contract extension will be coming. So, as for a Super Bowl ring, the Chargers, in simple way to say, needs to get to the title game first. Of course the Chargers had their chances in the recent seasons and some experts also say that they can make it this year.
Philip Rivers also said that he does not see that happening this year.
He said at the training camp, “It’s a long way from December and January, and we’ve got to understand that.” He also added that the feel is different and he don’t feel the hype and all the hoopla right now. He mentioned that the team has got the energy and everybody is excited, but it’s a little more focused group and he think that’s going to be key.
