Rivers shouldering load of the injured team
It is third week in NFL and the anger is already spewing across the San Diego over the inglorious 1-1 start of the Chargers. It is not known whether it is a frustration over the play calling of coach Norv Turner or is it an uneasiness over the myriad injuries of the team. It may also be an overall disappointment with a franchise that is expected to dominate a weak AFC West.
There is only one player holding it all together.
The burden of the team has fallen to QB Philip Rivers. He appears very comfortable shouldering the load and he is becoming the bedrock for his teammates. He has been doing exactly that in during and after a crushing Week 2 loss at Qualcomm Stadium against the Baltimore Ravens.
Rivers tossed interceptions twice against Baltimore. Three times Philip Rivers and his offense were flagged for the delay of the game penalties and 5 times the Chargers had ventured into Baltimore’s red zone. In this it trips only four field goals.
