San Diego Chargers Schedule

Chargers’ earliest divisional finale after NFL expansion to 16 games

Six games are now remaining for the Chargers in this regular season. The matchup of Sunday with the Kansas City Chiefs is a finale of sorts. It is the last game of the AFC West slate and it is a crucial portion of the schedule, which usually runs through the end of the season.

Since the NFL expanded its regular season in 1978 to sixteen games, this is the Chargers’ earliest divisional finale. If Chargers remained as last season then it will be tough for it to climb out without late games in the division. This season they control their own fate after a 5-game winning streak and also not to forget the pivotal victory over Denver.

The Chargers are confident that they must keep the winning now.

Philip Rivers said, “Each week things get tighter and the stakes get higher… Each game counts in terms of wins and losses, but this one certainly has added value.”

The game of Sunday is important if we talk about the tiebreakers because of the head-to-head matchups and also the division record can determine that the champion should there be a tie in the standings.

Philip Rivers also said, “There are no breathers… You look across the league each week, and some team wins a game analysts say they had no business winning. There’s a lot of veteran leadership on this team. You know we don’t take any of them for granted.”
