San Diego Chargers Schedule

Modern version of Chargers team could bring a title to the club

At one side the NFL continues to celebrate the life and innovations of late Don coryell and on the other side the San Diego Chargers is continuing building an offense that is poised to carry on the “Air Coryell” style. Not to forget, this had terrorized the opponents in 1970s and 1980s.

We all know that the high-powered offenses of the Chargers were not able to a get a Super Bowl title, but it seems that the modern version of the prolific attack of the team has the look of a champion.

Philip Rivers is leading the quarterback and with him the Chargers have ranked in the top 5 in scoring since 2006.

Chargers also had finished among the top passing offenses of the league in 2008 and 2009.

Philip Rivers has earned two Pro Bowl nods and he has also emerged as the main driving force on offense. With over 4,000 yards passing he is now coming off his second straight season.

The high completion percentage of Rivers would suggest that he operates an efficient dink-and-dunk offense. Philip Rivers has averaged a league-leading 8.6 yards per attempt and this is something indicative of the vertical nature of the offense.
