Are Chargers learnt from their mistakes?

Chargers club is keeping itself away from any debate. Jets are certainly amused as they have left the table with San Diego same like Antonio Cromartie. They remain unable to find any player who could understand their planning even it’s a 3rd rounder.

Chargers are much stronger in running back than the previous decade. They could fulfill up to fourth round picks by developing starters.

The hiring cost of Sproles is the four times than of NFL running back. After it everyone considering that Chargers will put power runner but they put Pro Bowl at the defensive alignment position.

Chargers have very talented players coming in touch with them but they should take precautionary measures so that their developing players can’t play for any other team. Last year, they lose the winning game just because of major unnecessary transformation in their team.

Chargers should change their “trade negotiator” to save young talents to turn into another Fouts, Winslow, and Wes Chandler.

Rivers honored at Annual Salute of Champions dinner

At the Annual Salute of Champions dinner in the Mission Valley recently, Philip Rivers was honored.

Just before the award when Rivers went inside the ballroom to accept it, Rivers told to the media that he spoke with the future Hall of Famer.

He said, “He seemed real upbeat… He’s a true pro and a classy guy. You never hope this day comes. Unfortunately it’s had to come here for him.”

Rivers was drafted in 2004 and in his six years of career with Tomlinson he has played on five playoff teams. When Tomlinson won 2 rushing titles in 2006 and 2007, Rivers started in the same backfield and he in 2006 broke the NFL single-season touchdown record.

Rivers added, “I’ve got a lot of great memories… That’s what I wanted to tell him today. I had the best view in the house — some of the awesomest runs he made. It was also the friendship and the practices and the bus rides that you really remember.”

Tomlinson was franchise’s face for much of his nine-year career. On the last couple of seasons Rivers has taken on.

Rivers plans for camp

Philip Rivers will be holding Old Spice Philip Rivers Football Camp’s inauguration this year on July 10-11 at the UCSD.

The event at the camp will be held between 5 and 8:30 p.m. on the both the days and it will benefit the Rivers of Hope Foundation.

Philip Rivers will be present at the site and will be seen directing the camp’s activities and he also will be providing instruction.

Old Spice Philip Rivers Football Camp will be featuring from the San Diego area some of the top prep and collegiate coaches. Boys and girls between the age group of 7 and 14 can take part in the camp.

There will be almost 7 hours of football instruction in the camp. All the campers will also be receiving autographed camp team photo with Rivers along with a camp T-shirt.They will also get an opportunity of winning contests and prizes. The camping fee is $199.

Rivers plans football camp

Philip Rivers, who plays as quarterback for the San Diego Chargers will hold the inaugural Old Spice Philip Rivers Football Camp on July 10-11 at UCSD. This camp will be conducted as an aid to the Rivers of Hope Foundation.

Rivers will be personally present on site to direct the activities of the camp which will go on from 5pm to 8:30pm and send out instructions. The best prep and collegiate coaches from the San Diego area have been selected to coach the boys and girls aged 7 to 14 who will be participating in the camp.

Seven hours of football instruction is not the only thing the campers will get. All participants will be presented with an autographed camp team photo with Rivers, a camp T-shirt, and the opportunity to win additional contests and prizes. The fee for the camp is $199.

Old Spice and Bridgestone Tires are some of the camp sponsors.

Campers are encouraged to register quickly to catch the limited spots available.

Rivers misses Pro Bowl third time

Briefly in a text message Philip Rivers have confirmed that officially he had withdrawn from the Pro Bowl.

Rivers said in the message, “Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in the Pro Bowl.” He also added further saying, “I hope to have another opportunity in years to come.”

This is the third opportunity for Rivers in the past four years that he has passed. The first for him was after the 2006 season. Then he not able to play due to his foot injury. Next time he got chance was in last season. He withdrew from it again to rest his knees and this time the reason is different. It is the impending birth of a child.

Now the Chargers will go with Kris Dielman, Antonio Gates, Nate Kaeding and Kassim Osgood in Miami. The coaching staff of Chargers will also be there.

On Saturday the voting of MVP was delivered and looking at votes it is understood clearly that Philip Rivers isn’t in.

Well, the top spot.

Philip Rivers finished third.

Colts thoroughbred Peyton Manning won the record fourth MVP trophy. He has demolished a field which had Drew Brees second. Oh yes, Brett Favre of Minnesota is behind Rivers.

Wow.

Philip Rivers becomes the Player of the Month. He wins AFC Offensive Player of the Month. Below is the details of his performance which has crowned him as Player of the Month.

• Philip Rivers had completed 93 of 137 passes (67.9 percent) for 1,316 passing yards with 9 touchdowns versus 3 interceptions.
• He also had 111.5 passer rating as the club posted a 5-0 record.
• Rivers also had helped the Chargers to continue their December success. The club had won an NFL-record 18 consecutive games in December, from 2006 to present.
• The 111.5 passer rating of Philip Rivers was the best in NFL during the month and also the nine touchdown passes of his tied for second-best in the league.
• Philip Rivers even had helped the Chargers in winning their fourth straight AFC West title and also in securing a No.2 seed in the AFC playoffs.
• Philip Rivers became the first Charger in 2009 to record a 100+ passer rating in consecutive seasons i.e. in 2008 it was 105.5 and in 2009 it was 104.4.
• In the sixth season of Philip Rivers from North Carolina State, this is his second career Player of the Month Award. Earlier he had won this award in December 2008.

Rivers speaks for coach Turner

The players of Chargers are waiting for the divisional round playoff opponent next week. The focus may be the coaching staff.

It is thought and also believed that the Chargers could be soon pulling their trigger in extending the contract of coach Norv Turner. His contract is going to be expired in 2010 season end.

Norv Turner was under considerable heat at the time when Chargers struggled to a 2-3 start. He had has directed the club to three AFC West titles and also an AFC Championship Game appearance. He replaced Marty Schottenheimer in 2007 before the season started.

Regarding him Philip Rivers said, “I think as he’s done really every year, the steadiness, the never-flinch leadership and attitude that he coaches with has allowed us to bounce back from 2-3 and stay on the ground, enjoying an (11-game) win streak.”

He also said that Norv Turner shows his strength in staying the course even if the club venture off it.

He added further, “We never get too much on a high or too much on a low… It’s a steady, grounded, focused approach. It starts with him — he and the staff — the week-to-week game plans giving us a chance to succeed. I think, ultimately, the guys have to soak that in and put in the effort preparing. I think that’s been the biggest reason why we’ve played so well.”

Rivers also has blossomed under the guidance of Norv Turner.

Rivers says each team has different circumstances and approaches

When Philip Rivers was asked last Wednesday, December the 31st, by the media that what happened on Sunday in the Indianapolis Sunday and what is his take on how much he should play Sunday then he replied: “I think it’s obviously up to each individual team and each team has different circumstances and approaches. We’ve been told, and I’m sure Norv will fill you in with whatever info he sees necessary, to prepare like a regular week and for everybody to be ready to play four quarters.”

Philips also added that how they will be playing is not sure, but according to him if he and the team go and prepare and get a week better and keep the approach consistent then they would have the last 10 weeks. Moreover, it will be the team’s best interest and give themselves the best chance to improve.

When further Rivers was asked what is his personal feeling for the best then he replied that he is preparing to play four quarters. He added, “I think any time you suit up, you want to go win the game.”

Media also asked whether he will be carrying the December success to January then Rivers said that they take a great deal of pride in the fact that the team has won eighteen in a row in December.
